Loess Hills – Elysian Prairie and Restoration Project is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN: 37-2168075) dedicated exclusively to native prairie restoration and conservation education in the Loess Hills of Iowa. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Our Mission

Restoring what was here long before us

The Loess Hills of western Iowa are home to one of the rarest ecosystems in North America β€” ancient wind-deposited hills covered in native tallgrass prairie. Less than 1% of Iowa's original prairie remains. Our project exists to change that.

Through hands-on restoration, community education, and dedicated stewardship, we are working to bring back the native grasses, wildflowers, and wildlife that defined this landscape for thousands of years.
